On March 8 we celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD), a time for reflecting on the extraordinary social, economic and political achievements of women. It’s also a day to raise awareness of gender inequality, advocate for gender parity and to fundraise for female-focused charities. IWD is part of Women’s History Month, celebrated during March each year in the US and other parts of the world.
At JMP, we recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions women have made to our society and to our company. Women fill critical leadership roles in our organization and help to innovate our products, ensuring that our business – and our customers – succeed.
JMP is committed to supporting and growing our employees and to full equity for all women. Throughout the month of March, we’ll recognize the accomplishments of women and sponsor or support several events to commemorate the occasion. Help us celebrate (and inspire positive change) with your support, your stories and your participation in the various events we have planned.
Here are just a few ways to get involved:
Participate in the IWD Choose to Challenge Campaign
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is Choose To Challenge. Though we’ve made progress in gender equality, we’re still a long way from realizing full gender parity. Choose to Challenge encourages individuals to raise awareness against bias and to forge positive change for women and equality. According to the IWD website “A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change.”
How to participate:
❶ Take a photo of yourself with your hand raised to show that you’re committed to calling out gender inequality.
❷ Post to the IWD JMP #ChooseToChallenge folder and /or to the SAS #ChooseToChallenge Photo Gallery.
❸ Share your Choose To Challenge pose on social media using #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021.

Keep the conversation going
Though March 8 is International Women’s Day and the month of March is designated Women’s History Month, we want to celebrate the accomplishments of the amazing women at JMP all year long. Help us keep the conversation going. Tell us more about a mentor or a woman you admire here at JMP. Ask a question. Share a thank you. And, of course, keep an eye on Inside JMP all month long as we celebrate outstanding Women JMPers!

Great article! Our Discovery panel on Thursday about dark data and data bias relates to this topic. "Invisible women" by Caroline Criado Perez talks about the real world implication of the fact that data about women is often overlooked. Great article, Larry !! #choosetochallenge
Awesome article, Larry. And a shout out to Jessica Marquardt, Mandy Chambers and me -- the JMP women who helped get WIN (Women's Initiatives Network) off the ground more than 10 years ago. It's still going strong today and offers great insights and programs that support SAS women around the globe -- and women in our communities as well.
