In Japan, psychiatric care is promoting the transition from hospitalization to community life, but the transition and retention of long-term hospitalized patients in the community has not progressed sufficiently, and the development of a community living environment has become an issue. Community integration is a concept that represents the community living environment as perceived by the patients themselves, and is set as the goal of community life overseas. The purpose of this study is to identify factors that are useful for improving the community integration of people with mental disorders living in the community.
The research method was a self-administered questionnaire survey targeting community-dwelling people with mental disorders. Using JMP 13.2.0 (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA), multiple regression analysis was performed with individual and environmental factors to clarify the structure of community integration. In order to find characteristics by group, layers were extracted using partition analysis, and multiple regression analysis was performed for each layer. When interpreting the unstandardized partial regression coefficients, we devised a way to handle the variables entered so as not to increase the VIF.
By conducting stratified multiple regression analysis, we were able to identify factors common to all strata and factors specific to each stratum, thereby obtaining useful insights.
