Abstract
In an age of big data, where revealed preference data such as purchasing data are easily available, what significance and role will analyses based on stated preference data collected through costly and time-consuming questionnaire surveys have for regional management by businesses, local governments, and other organizations?
Based on my experience of being involved in the planning, conducting, and analyzing various questionnaire surveys, and of teaching data analysis and statistics using SAS in the 1990s and JMP since the 2000s, I will present my personal views on these questions while introducing research examples related to questionnaire surveys.
