On the job...
Yan Ying plays a crucial role in amplifying JMP advocacy and storytelling. "My work revolves around promoting JMP advocacy and helping advocates communicate the value of JMP effectively. We support customer marketing with brand-level storytelling, publish customer success stories, and internally, we highlight sales wins through our sales highlight series. Recently, I’ve been working on editing recordings and organizing them by topic."
Her journey to this role is a unique blend of scientific research and a passion for communication. "I studied Biomedical Science and was involved in cancer research," Yan Ying shared. "I’ve always loved science and the deep-dive process of research. However, after working in Singapore for a year, I decided to move back to Malaysia for my marriage. This led me to explore new career opportunities—and that’s when I found this role at JMP."
Despite her initial doubts coming from a research background, Yan Ying has thrived at JMP. "I’m grateful for the learning environment at JMP. People are always so helpful in answering my (sometimes silly) questions! I’m also incredibly thankful for a supportive manager who encourages growth and learning. Looking back, I’m thankful for this career shift because it allowed me to explore beyond cancer research. Most importantly, I realized that I love storytelling—something that’s deeply embedded in research as well."
Among her favorite projects at JMP, Yan Ying enjoys connecting with colleagues and crafting compelling stories. "I love talking to my JMP colleagues—everyone is so friendly and approachable! Any project that involves interviewing colleagues and turning their insights into a compelling story is something I truly enjoy. I’m still learning how to improve my video editing and storytelling skills, but I take it one step at a time."
What Yan Ying values most about working at JMP is the supportive and collaborative environment. "Despite being in different locations and reporting to different managers, we are all so supportive of one another.”
For those starting in her field, Yan Ying offers practical advice: "Explore Confluence and InsideJMP—there’s a wealth of information there, and most of the time, I can find answers to my questions. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out to anyone at JMP. People are always willing to help!"
When it comes to representing JMP’s brand, Yan Ying resonates with the "Interactive" pillar. "My role requires me to engage with a diverse group of people—colleagues, customers, and advocates," she said. "Whether it’s gathering insights, crafting stories, or editing videos, my work is all about fostering conversations and building connections. I enjoy creating opportunities to share and highlight different perspectives, making the JMP experience richer for everyone."

"I love reading—I can spend hours in a bookstore," she says. "I also enjoy cooking and playing board games. Sometimes, I host dinner gatherings with friends, followed by board game nights. I also love hiking. Being surrounded by nature helps me recharge, and it humbles me."
A fun fact that might surprise many is her love for a certain animated film. "My favorite movie is Despicable Me! I just can’t get over how cute the Minions are," Yan Ying revealed.
After a long day, Yan Ying finds relaxation in simple pleasures. "Reading with a cup of tea, having a board game night with my husband, or watching a film together," she said.
Yan Ying's passion for storytelling and her dedication to fostering connections make her an asset to the JMP team. We're grateful to have her!
