What inspired this Wish List Request?
In JMP 19 the columns viewer will be deprecated and replaced by the Columns Manager. The new Columns Manager platform is really quite phenomenal and I love it a lot.
The Output of the platform needs small improvements to produce a display that can be used for general reporting.
The columns manager platform(?) cannot be journaled correctly
-Graphical elements revert to expressions and it looks bad, especially the distribution and limits
-JSL to remove Attributes and Properties can make the column manager look more like the table the columns viewer produced
These amendments make the journaled report look better, however scripting the platform causes a hard crash
There doesn't not seem to be a mechanism to remove the distribution, which reverts to a matrix of values in the journal
The Columns manager needs a "Done" button to remove the controls for the finished view of the platform.
-The done button would hide the elements between the bottom of the "Columns Manager" outline bar and the top of the table.
-This final, complete report, would be useful in documents describing the content of a data table.
Note: Journaling reports is important because they can be formatted for printing as a PDF. Most reports in JMP cannot be easily added to word documents because they are auto stretch and are formatted for wide screen. Regulated industries often (always) require printable documents of work.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided?
Is this an external customer request?
No, but I can't recommend the use of the platform for reporting because it can't be customized, can't be journaled and doesn't produced a finished report format. Also, I'm a little stuck because the alternative is deprecated in JMP 19.
