Improving the characteristics of crystal oscillators
Seita Takahashi, Engineer, Toyama Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
The electrical characteristics of the crystal oscillator were affected by significant variations in processing and temperature, preventing the commercialization of a product that met market demands. Therefore, the HOPE method was used to optimize design parameters and determine the level value that minimizes the variation in characteristics due to processing and temperature changes. The characteristics of the product manufactured using this level value improved by more than 50% compared to conventional products. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the obtained characteristics fell within the 95% prediction range, indicating no issues with reproducibility.
