Improving the characteristics of crystal oscillators
Toyama Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Engineer Seita Takahashi
The electrical characteristics of the crystal oscillators had a large rate of characteristic variation due to processing variations and temperature changes, making it impossible to commercialize a product that satisfied market demands. Therefore, the HOPE method was used to optimize the design parameters to determine standard values that minimized the rate of characteristic variation due to processing and temperature changes. The characteristic values of the product manufactured at these standard values improved by more than 50% compared to conventional values. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the obtained characteristic values fell within the 95% prediction interval, indicating that there were no problems with reproducibility.
