JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck Boiler
After 28 years at JMP, we say a fond farewell to Chuck Boiler (@chuck_boiler), a long-time colleague and friend, who is embarking on his well-deserved retirement. Chuck's contributions to JMP have been immense, leaving a lasting impact on the company and its employees.
During the recent Sales Kickoff, Nicholas Shelton (@nick_shelton) led a tribute, highlighting Chuck's unique ability to connect with people quickly and deeply. He shared photos showcasing Chuck's involvement in various JMP activities, from staffing customers at Discovery to enjoying Guinness with colleagues on an Elite trip in Ireland. One photo even showed Chuck's creative side, with a graph builder plot made of cans and donations. Another captured his active listening skills and the confidence he instilled in his colleagues.
Nick also spoke of Chuck's dual role as both an SE and an SE manager, emphasizing his helpfulness, guidance, and advocacy for his team. He described Chuck as a "Superman" who always had answers and support to offer.
Michael Scruggs (@Michael_Scruggs) shared an anecdote about Chuck's remarkable recruiting efforts, suggesting that he single-handedly brought dozens of people to JMP.
Curt Hinrichs (@curt_hinrichs) praised Chuck's kindness, humility, and thoughtfulness, highlighting his impact on JMP's business and his contributions to the "Chuckinar" webinars and the "JMP Essentials" book.
Lori Casto (@lori_casto) echoed these sentiments, calling Chuck the "heart and soul" of JMP and sharing his ability to brighten even the toughest days. She recalled his dedication and his knack for offering unique perspectives. Bonnie Rigo (@bonster) shared a more personal tribute, reminiscing on 30 years of stories and expressing how much she will miss Chuck.
While Chuck's departure is bittersweet, colleagues are excited for him to enjoy his retirement. Nick joked about Chuck's plans to spend time at his cabin in Oregon, travel to New Orleans or Las Vegas, and perhaps even experience Oktoberfest in person. The overall sentiment was one of gratitude for Chuck's contributions and well wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement filled with whatever adventures he chooses. The good news is that Chuck will be joining the team again in April for one last send-off at Reunion, so it's not goodbye, but rather, "see you later."
Chuck's last day at JMP is Feb. 28. Be sure to share stories and wish him well in the comments below!

JMP NewsRe: JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck Boiler@chuck_boiler Dos Equis thinks they have the most interesting man in the world. I staunchly disagree - that title is owned by Chuck Boiler. If you've never really, and I mean really, spoken to Chuck, you're missing out. This guy has had so many unique chapters to his life, I just cannot wait for him to explore the next. As one of the best managers I've ever had, he's the most active listener you'll ever speak to and has true compassion and interest in humankind. Always striving to learn more, and beyond that, always striving for you to learn more. Chuck, here's to your and your retirement NEXT WEEK - crazy - and congratulations my friend!!

Re: JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck BoilerThanks for all these years of friendship and comradery. I remember meeting you on the bus to Building V or F back at the 2004 JMP User Conference when I was a customer. I had no idea that I'd get the chance to work with you just 4 years later. I am so lucky to have had that opportunity. Thanks for everything you've done and shared over the years. I'll miss you but I'm happy you'll have more time to spend on yourself and those around you. Hope we'll cross paths again in the future.

Re: JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck BoilerChuck, Cheers to you and your next chapter!
A wonderful human, certainly the most empathic listener I've ever met, and my doorway into JMP, thank you always for making time to connect with me (and listen) in my industry days between circa 2015 and 2021. May we continue to benefit from your thoughtful and kind essence, and carry on your legacy of compassionate leadership at JMP.
Re: JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck BoilerI remember meeting you at Statview before you joined JMP, and you made a very good impression from the start. Thank you for all that you have done cultivating and helping users to become comfortable and productive with JMP. Thank you for your leadership for our great team of SE's that you have hired and trained. We will much miss you.
Re: JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck BoilerIt's so hard to imagine JMP without you, Chuck. You were one of the first people to welcome me and offer your help when I came to Cary for my first kickoff. You were true to your word. And you are the big reason why we have such a supportive, collaborative community of SEs at JMP. And hence why being a JMP SE is the best job in world. See you in April!
Re: JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck BoilerI can't think of anything to write that others haven't already said more eloquently. Chuck, JMP won’t be the same without you. Thank you for the great conversations— I will miss you! Wishing you all the best for this next chapter in your life.
Re: JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck BoilerChuck, we definitively will miss you! Thanks for all the conversations and advices you gave me since the very first time we met in Cary during the SE Summit in summer 2012 during Meeker's training session on MSA for the SEs. I had literally just signed the contract few days before my flight to Cary and started few months later - what a crazy time that was. I felt so welcome and this didn't change since then.
All the best for your next endeavor! Warm regards, Martin
Re: JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck BoilerChuck is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. I first met Chuck over 27 years ago. I joined JMP, and SAS had just purchased Abacus, which had the StatView product. Fortunately for us, Chuck (and Bonnie) came with StatView.
@chuck_boiler - Thanks for all the help over the years, especially the early years when we worked together to get StatView into the SAS processes for delivery to customers. It was always a joy to see you when you traveled to HQ here in Cary, NC. See you at the 2025 Reunion.

Ever since my job interview, you've been one of those people I look forward to seeing at kickoffs and meetings in Cary. I'm definitely going to miss your attentiveness, caring and kindness.

Re: JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck BoilerChuck-san,
I was surprised to hear that you were retiring, as I always thought you would be here at JMP.
Everyone will miss you who led JMP.
If you have time, please come and visit Japan. We'll be waiting for you!
Re: JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck BoilerChuck you are the best boss ever and even a better person. Will really miss having you work at the same company, but excited for you next chapter in life.
Re: JMP celebrates the retirement of Chuck BoilerI remember our first conversation through Teams. I literally had just come from helping gross a specific organ that involved a lot of tissuey fluids. I was nervous and scared before our meeting started and would have preferred grossing 100 of those same organs than meeting about a potential internship position. I don't 100% remember the conversation, but I do remember how impressed and welcome I felt. You have an amazing gift of making me feel comfortable, accepted, and, like Wendy said, like I matter. I have tried to emulate that since. You are an amazing boss and person. If I was to sum up in one word explaining who you are, it would be "kindness". I raise my glass to you. Cheers!
