If the Autosave setting is turned on in General Preferences, open data tables, journals, reports, and scripts are automatically saved at regular intervals.
If the number of rows or columns in a data table exceeds the "Maximum number of rows to autosave" or "Maximum number of columns to autosave" settings in the preferences, the data will not be autosaved. Also, if "Autosave interval (minutes)" is set to 0, the data will not be autosaved.
Note that there is also an auto-save option in the Script Editor preferences.
