What inspired this Wish List Request? This request came from a customer about our scripting Index not being very user friendly and causing more frustration.
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see.
Here is the e-mail I received from Tom Finan at Gore.
I’ve always struggled with the Scripting Index. Lots of people point to it as a resource, but I usually walk away frustrated. I feel like I just missed an explanation early on about how it’s supposed to work or something.
Anyway, today I was looking for how to add a tab to a dashboard, but I want that tab in the middle, not at the end of the list of tabs. I could not find anything in the Community, so I resorted to the Scripting Index. I knew about Append, and I wend to the Index hoping to find there was a way to tell it “append at a certain position, not the end,” but there was not. I then looked under “See Also” but no help.
I eventually I found “Sib Append” which I think will get me what I need. Then I searched “Sib Append” in the community and found there is also “Prepend” and “Sib Prepend” which may also be useful.
My point here is that the “See Also” list for “Append” shown below is pretty useless. If someone is interested in “Append” then the See Also List should really include “Sib Append,” “Prepend,” “Sib Prepend” at a minimum. Is there a way to provide feedback and have these items added to the See Also list?
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided?
Ease of use and time saved. For users trying to script this will make it easier and allow JMP to be stickering quicker.
Is this an external customer request?
Yes, WL Gore, Tom Finan
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of?
It is much easier to find help writing with Python and R code
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this?
No
