Welcome to the JMP Development Update for January 17, 2025!
We have now reached our JMP 19 Feature Freeze milestone at the end of the day today! After today, any JMP 19 features that you are still working on post-freeze need to be added to the JMP 19 Late Features page here. Thanks to those of you who have already added sections to the Late Features page and included Jira links that describe your remaining work! This is extremely helpful to all the downstream teams who are tracking remaining feature work.
We are also freezing for JMP 19 EA6 at the end of the day today. Thanks very much for all the work on feature pages this week! I saw many new pages being created in the JMP 19 Features space, and quite a few existing pages being updated with current information. As a reminder, you can remove outdated information from any feature page, if it pertains only to earlier EAs. Feature pages should reflect the current status of the feature for the current EA6. Feature page updates for EA6 should be completed by next Monday, and any videos should be to Mia by end of the day Tuesday.
As a reminder, we will be freezing JMP 19 EA7 on 2/14/25. I have noticed many developers already triaging their lists of open story items and removing 19 from the Planned version field for items that did not make 19. This is definitely the right move at this point in the cycle! Please reach out to me or Shannon Leslie if you need assistance with any batch updates to your items.
As you triage through remaining story type items that have 19.0 in the planned version field but are no longer planned for the track, you can choose to triage stories in one of the following ways:
- If you are certain that you will work on the story in JMP 20, please update Planned Version to 20.0.
- If you know you will work on the story but are not sure in which version, please remove the Planned Version value completely.
- If you’re not sure if you will work on the story, please demote it to a feature request.
A limited number of important minor features that did not make a JMP XX.0 release are often considered for inclusion in XX.1. Please discuss any 19.1 story candidates with your manager before adding 19.1 to Planned Version, and if your manager approves of including the feature in 19.1, please add the feature to the JMP 19.1 features page here. We follow a similar process for tracking Late Features and JMP 19.1 features since both sets of items impact the work of downstream teams.
Thanks to Landra Robertson, Larry LaRusso and Amy Stuart for presenting to JMP Development on the JMP Brand during Thursday’s dev meeting! If you missed the meeting, you can find a recording here. I also added the meeting recording link to the chat and to the JMP dev meeting recordings page in Confluence.

Thanks to Shannon Leslie for sharing the most recent Atlassian news:
On January 14, Atlassian rolled out changes to our Jira and Confluence Cloud sites. A list of relevant changes along with highlighted details and documentation can be found here.
The changes include:
- Create Jira forms for other users to create issues in your Jira project - similar to Issue Collectors but easier to implement
- Add format rules to your Jira List view, to highlight specific work
- Action Items are now available in Jira issue Description and Comments - similar to action items in Confluence
- Hide your unused fields on the Jira Create screen
- and more!
Please contact Shannon Leslie or any of the other JMP Atlassian admins with questions. Also check out our JMP Atlassian Q&A Teams channel, where this and other Atlassian information will continue to be shared.
Finally, thanks to Tonya Mauldin for sharing this week’s Beta/Crash cases with crashes selected!

JMP Development Updates
System/Host Testing-Cary
- Audrey: JMP 18.1.2 testing, Jira admin work, 2025 planning with my team.
- Hunter: Completed JMP 18.1.2 final installer testing, responded to JMP 19 EA 5 cases, and JIRA verifications. Updated to Sequoia 15.3 Dev. Beta 3 on the Intel and Apple Silicon host testing Macs in the lab and ran tests with JMP 18.2 and 19.0. Tested several configurations of installed versions of JMP 18.x and 19.0 on Mac and Windows to confirm that updating my Carynt password did not interfere with previously authorized installations of JMP.
- Mandy:
- Lots of activity still with data table, rows panel, filter views – no show modes, tags – the properties dialog, and let’s not forget Tabulate! Helped find a good problem before EA6 through an EA track, and also found several crashes. Attaching a few images in case anyone wants to try out some new EA6 features!
- Below, the BP tag from the Lipid Data_EA6 table can now be shared with Diabetes_EA6 table, through importing;

- Filter views are a bit cleaner here – but in the table filter, you can still get to “Show Modes” in the Red Triangle menu here:

- In Tabulate, you can select multiple response (MR) columns from the red triangle menu > modeling type, and then use them only for a Page Column:

- In Tabulate, you can also do a bit more with the “Change Format” at the bottom of the UI – give it a try if you want to see what it does now.
- NOTE: send any feedback or concerns to Mandy, if you have questions. Happy to help!
System/Host Testing-Beijing
Core
- Dan S: Working on focus issues that surfaced in a Data Connector dialog. Helped with a removable warning message box for legacy CCB reports. Fixes for Order-by-response in Group Platform. Refactoring in Group Platform to allow FDE Group to subclass for more group options.
- Morgan: Added a number of new markup tags, shortcut characters for markup, import support for .ipynb files, and some improvements to syntax highlighting and other display information in Python scripts.
- Xan: More transform scoping work. New bar chart styles: sorted stacked and treemap.
DOE and Reliability
- Caleb: Added a new sample size explorer for parametric tolerance bounds. Fixed a few other explorer bugs as well. I also finished a few paper reviews and had two papers submitted as well.
- Irene: Continue to investigate some Jira tickets, preparing a usability study to test a user interface we created for Bayesian fault localization.
Hosting and Interfaces
- John Schroedl: Spending a lot of time on text entry work. After some false-starts and study of .NET source I now understand and have worked-around a crash related to editing large text blocks in the Windows text field (JMP-24207). Continue research on changes needed for better handling of IME, Clipboard History and Emoji entry panels. Working with Dan Schikore on text commit issue. Icon buttons now update image when color mode changes. Pushed EA watermark icons. Helping folks with Visual Studio and PC configuration issues.
Interactive HTML
- Mike Stickles: Completed development work on JMPHTML-2022 (Legend does not show size settings on Parallel plot) and JMPHTML-2023 (Legend does not respect horizontal setting for size variable). Currently finishing up some minor tweaks that were suggested in code review to improve code clarity.
- Paul Spychala: Fixed several issues for clearing FrameBoxes when they need updating (JMPHTML-651).
JMP Live
- Aurora: Control chart warning improvements (retain existing assignee if not specified during triage, do not alter markers during [re]publish from pre-19 JMP, server support for viewing and downloading individual warnings across multiple reports, prep for Discovery Europe). Created article "TypeScript".
Statistics
- Get Process Screening features ready for AE6.
- Finish the non-normal chart types, Count, Nonnegative Continuous, and Proportion.
- Implement wildcard feature in Limits Tables to make it easy to apply limits to many groups in one limit row.
- Implement hover graphlets in Alarm Graph.
- Develop a custom launch dialog so that only the appropriate options are shown for a given chart type.
- Introduce a new alarm rule "Test Alert Increasing" for Count and Nonnegative Continuous.
(JMP-24080, JMP-23533, JMP-24370, JMP-24030).

Added some new features to the SEM platform (1) Ability to add notes to each fitted model, (2) Ability to specify/fit a cross-lagged panel model while accounting for measurement error, and (3) Ability to specify a random intercept to cross-lagged panel models. Made feature pages for these. Met with Haley to discuss SEM SPSP workshop.
