What inspired this Wish List Request? Nvidia provided us with a thoughtful side-by-side comparison of JMP Live vs. Tableau
Please describe the new or improved features or solutions you would like to see. JMP Dashboard functionality is very limited compared to Tableau. The B.I. market is massive, and JMP Live has an opportunity to displace Tableau in the science and engineering fields as it is far more capable for engineering tasks and is the tool of choice for scientists and engineers. Making dashboards easier to create and edit, and making them more attractive, would allow JMP to quickly take slices of this market from Tableau.
Tableau reports are much more polished. JMP Live visuals need to be enhanced and modernized.
JMP Live reports publish much slower than Tableau. Tableau hyper-format files are compact and fast, and they can be converted using Python APIs.
Tableau has a feature for publishing of Excel-like tables. JMP Live does not yet do this.
More details in attached deck.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if these new features are provided? JMP is by far the better tool for scientists and engineers; Tableau is not even close. Specifically, JMP is much better with graphing/visuals and scripting/automation. However, JMP Live falls behind Tableau in areas such as publishing speed, handling large data, visual clarity, customization, and dashboard functionality. If these issues were addressed, JMP Live could go head to head against Tableau and capture a significant slice of the B.I. market for science and engineering.
Is this an external customer request? Yes, Nvidia
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of? Yes, Tableau
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this? Yes, all of the above. ALL JMP Live customers will be positively impacted with these enhancements, and JMP will have a far more competitive position in the market if these enhancements are made.
