Our Giving Back series features employees with a heart for service and who regularly volunteer in their local community. If you have a story, please send it to Allison Hines (@AllisonHines). Don't forget, Giving Tuesday is tomorrow!
Akasha recently donated blood for the first time, on her birthday.Senior Associate Inside Sales Account Representative Akasha Jalani's (@AkashaJalani) journey is a testament to the power of a heart that yearns to serve. After eight enriching years spent abroad, pursuing her academic and professional dreams in the United States and Ireland, Akasha returned to her homeland, Malaysia, with a renewed sense of purpose.
Her time overseas had not only broadened her horizons but also ignited a passion for community service. She actively participated in various volunteer initiatives, from organizing community clean-ups to building homes for those less fortunate. These experiences instilled in her a deep-rooted belief in giving back to society.
One such initiative was the Great Heart Charity Green Earth Initiative, where Akasha volunteered during the summer. This monthly event brings together local communities to contribute to a cleaner, greener Malaysia. Akasha and her fellow volunteers successfully cleared 32.72 kg of trash from the area surrounding a local lakeside. "It was a rewarding experience," she shared, "seeing how collective efforts can make a visible impact on our environment."
Akasha's commitment to service extended beyond her endeavors. Upon joining JMP, she approached her role with a desire to positively impact the lives of scientists and engineers, empowering them to make informed decisions that could shape the world.
Inspired by the Islamic teaching, "The best among you are those who bring the greatest benefits to others," and the words of Muhammad Ali, "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth," Akasha embraced every opportunity to volunteer. Her dedication was evident when she donated blood for the first time on her birthday, a selfless act that embodied her spirit of service.
Akasha's story is a reminder that the true measure of a person lies not in their accomplishments but in their contributions to the well-being of others. Her journey is an inspiration to all, encouraging us to find ways to make a difference, no matter how small.
