With the advent of the big data era, enterprise quality control is facing more and more challenges. Among them, the problem of importing massive data specifications has always troubled quality control personnel. When manufacturing processes become increasingly complex and quality indicators often number in the dozens or even hundreds, the difficulty of quality management will increase dramatically. One of the bottlenecks is how to effectively combine product-related information with quality control objectives.
When it comes to specific points, taking the evaluation of process capabilities as an example, the first problem to be solved is to combine a large amount of test data with product specification data. This kind of repetitive and boring task troubles many friends who work on the front line of quality, but they still have to do it. But now, as long as users who use JMP for quality control analysis have good news, it is JMP's "Management Limits" platform. Through the management limits platform, a huge number of indicators can be managed in batches and color-coded according to importance. , the following examples will share with you the specific operation methods of this platform.
If we need to analyze the process capabilities of hundreds of indicators of a product, two aspects of data are essential to complete this arduous task:
- Product test data : For example, starting from the fourth column of the "Test Data" table, there are a total of 128 product parameter indicators that need to be calculated for process capabilities, and they have been set to the "Parameter" column group.
- Product specification limit data : In order to cooperate with the next step, it is organized into the following format. The parameter name is filled in the "Variable" column. "LSL", "USL", and "Target" correspond to the "lower specification limit" and "upper specification limit" respectively. , "Target value", please note that the column names need to be consistent with this table to facilitate software identification. After having relevant information, the protagonist JMP appeared.
Open the platform through the main menu "Analyze" --> "Quality and Process" --> "Manage Limits". (Picture 2)

(Picture 2)
- Select the "Parameter" column group, add all 128 quality parameters to "Process Variables", and click "OK" to enter the main platform interface. (Picture 3)

(Picture 3)
- In the main platform interface, the specification limits of all parameter columns listed in the main platform interface are currently blank, which means that this test data table does not contain specification limit information. The following will be the moment to witness the miracle.
- Click the control item "Load from Limits Table" below and select the specification limit table named "Limits" from the table list. After pressing "OK", all data within the specification limits will be loaded into the platform. (Picture 4)

(Picture 4)
- Then click "Save to Column Properties", and the specification limits are combined with the test data. Open the column properties of the data table to see the specific values of the specification limits. (Picture 5)

Through the above steps, product specification limits and test data can be quickly integrated, laying a solid foundation for subsequent analysis. Not only that, the platform functions of "Manage Limits" go far beyond that, and it can also provide more quick operations.
-
Show specification limits in graph:
You can easily plot specification limits on the graph. There are two methods: one is to load from the specification limit table with a new column "Show Limits" added (1 means display, 0 means not display); the other is to directly select "Show Limits" in the main platform interface. After clicking "Save to Column Properties", the specified specification limits and target values will be automatically displayed as reference lines in the graph.

To simplify the operation, you can also click the red triangle next to "Manage Limits" and select "Show All Limits" to select display options for all columns with one click.

-
Importance of setting up the process:
You can sort multiple process variables by adding a Process Importance column and assigning it a value (larger values indicate greater importance). This feature makes it easy to adjust the mark size of graphics based on importance in platforms such as "Process Capability" and "Process Filtering" to visually display which processes are more critical.

Color values that exceed specification limits:
By clicking the red triangle next to "Management Limits" and selecting "Color Values Above Specification Limits", JMP will automatically color all value markers that are outside the specification limits - those below the lower limit are shown in light red, and those above the specification limit are shown in light red. The upper limit is displayed in light blue. This intuitive visual cue makes out-of-spec values clear at a glance.

Import related column properties:
Similar to importing specification limits, you can also import column attributes related to process screening, MSAs, and detection limits. This operation is simple and will not be described in detail.

Although there are only more than a hundred product indicators in the case, with JMP's "Manage Limits" platform, no matter how many product indicators there are, the task can be completed with simple operation steps. This not only greatly enhances many quality control-related functions in JMP, such as "Process capability", "Process screening", etc., but also greatly improves the efficiency and convenience of the entire platform.
The gadget shared today is just one of the many highlights of the JMP data analysis platform. For more surprises, everyone is welcome to explore and share them together.
