If working remotely is part of your regular routine here at SAS, stop what you’re doing and learn about a change that will affect how you connect to SAS internal resources.
Most of SAS is familiar with the Cisco Secure Virtual Private Network (VPN), formerly known as AnyConnect, as the gateway to access SAS internal resources, such as InsideSAS and other services. As part of CIS’ ongoing commitment to providing secure connectivity solutions, SAS will be migrating from the Cisco product to Palo Alto’s GlobalProtect VPN solution for remote user connectivity to the SAS network.
Beginning in the next few weeks, employees will start seeing GlobalProtect icons similar to the one below right (sometimes rendered in grayscale) appear on their desktops, system trays, or menu bars on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android devices.

It’s important to note that the new VPN client will be deployed gradually to SAS employees and will take some time. GlobalProtect will begin appearing on certain machines in the next few weeks but will not be functional until the Dec. 2 go-live date. Once live, GlobalProtect VPN will support Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android devices.
Starting Dec. 2, employees will have both VPN options available for their use for a period of time. Cisco Secure VPN will remain available until Feb. 28, 2025. We ask that all employees take some time as far in advance of the Cisco Secure VPN service decommissioning as possible to try GlobalProtect and ensure that it meets all of your remote access needs.
