In today's increasingly remote and globalized workforce, developing a sense of connection among employees has become more crucial than ever. One simple yet powerful tool to achieve this is by including employee photos in the company directory and in the JMP Community.
Employee photos humanize the workplace, transforming names on a screen into recognizable faces. When employees can put a face to a name, it becomes easier to build rapport, initiate conversations, and develop stronger professional relationships.

As Diana Levey (@Diana_Levey), Senior Marketing Director, aptly puts it, "When we’re together at the company reunion, don’t you want to know who you’re standing next to? As our company grows, it’s more and more difficult to know one another... especially when so many of us are in different parts of the world or work from home offices. So, now more than ever, it’s important to make your photo available."
Employee photos also contribute to a more inclusive and welcoming work environment. When employees see diverse faces representing different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences, it fosters a sense of belonging and encourages empathy.
Employee photos can also enhance collaboration and teamwork. When colleagues can visualize each other, initiating projects, sharing ideas, and seeking assistance becomes easier. A photo can break the ice and facilitate smoother interactions, increasing productivity and innovation.
By making a conscious effort to include employee photos in the company directory, organizations can cultivate a more connected, inclusive, and collaborative workplace. Levey emphasized this saying, "JMP is a company full of beautiful people and we should all be seen! We are dedicated to our customers and to our colleagues. We are the helpers! And it’s much easier to help and connect when people know who you are."
How to add your photo
There are two places where it’s important to have your photo – the InsideJMP People Search and the JMP Community directory. These are two separate repositories, so you’ll need to update them both. If you already have a photo, be sure it’s a recent one that represents you well.
Update your photo in the JMP Community:

- Click on your avatar in the top right corner of the InsideJMP homepage.
- Go to “My Settings.”
- Choose the “AVATARS” tab.
- Click “Upload an Avatar.”
- Upload a headshot of yourself.
Upload a photo to People Search:

Photos for the InsideJMP People Search are pulled from Outlook365. Follow this link to update your photo in People Search, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.
Anniversaries and New Hires
One final reason it's very important to have your photo in your JMP Community profile is that the photos for Anniversaries and New Hires on the InsideJMP homepage are pulled from there! Instead of the little blue JMP man, we want to see recognizable employee faces in this space!
