At JMP, we're committed to making a positive impact on the world, not just through our work, but also through our philanthropic efforts. A doorway to hope
JMP colleagues in Cary have organized an Angel Tree with A Doorway to Hope for this holiday season. A Doorway to Hope is a local organization that provides temporary, emergency assistance for the working poor in Southwest Wake County to have families in need return to self-sufficiency.
We have adopted two families, each with five children. We will supply four gifts per child- two 'need' items and two 'want' items. We have also signed up to provide a $50 Food Lion gift card and a basket of essentials per family.
You can sign up here if you would like to participate.
Please note:
- Gifts should be dropped off at Lori Casto’s office (A5272) by Dec. 11 (the day of Winter Thanks).
- Gifts should be wrapped and labeled with the name of the recipient (no 'from').
- Essentials basket items need not be wrapped, but please label them with the appropriate family name.
- *Please include gift receipts for all gifts inside of the wrapping.*
Suppose you would like to participate but work remotely. In that case, you can have your wrapped gift shipped to Lori’s office (Lori Casto, 920 SAS Campus Drive, A5272, Cary NC 27513), message Briana Codd to contribute to a Food Lion gift card, or donate directly to the organization via their website.
Lastly, once all gifts are claimed if there is still interest, I will inquire about additional families in need.

Salvation Army Angel Tree - Deadline Dec. 3!
As the holiday season approaches, SAS is again partnering with the Salvation Army for its Angel Tree program! This year, the aim is to sponsor 400 children in need, making their holidays brighter, warmer, and filled with joy.
If you want to make a child’s holiday merry and bright, please to request an angel(s). Angel Tree gift drop-off will be one day only: Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the loading dock between LX and LW.
If you have any questions or are a remote employee eager to join in, please reach out to Mandy Chambers (@Mandy_Chambers). Mandy can also help remote employees participate and make this holiday season unforgettable for all our sponsored angels.
WIN has been co-sponsoring the Angel Tree for the past 12-15 years and Chambers said it is always such a huge success.
"As a company, we have always been able to fulfill the needs of these children and families. Some ideas: Join together with your team to take a child or family or involve your own family or children in learning about giving to some who might not have as much as they do. Please consider signing up and shopping. Thank you for your continued generosity and for making this season memorable for so many."
Why giving back matters
Philanthropy isn't just about donating money; it's about giving of ourselves. By volunteering our time, sharing our skills, or contributing financially, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of others. As JMP employees, we have the privilege and the responsibility to use our talents and resources to address societal challenges and create a better future.

How you can make a difference
There are countless ways to give back, both big and small. Here are a few ideas to inspire you:
- Volunteer your time: Donate your time to local organizations that align with your passions.
- Donate to a cause: Support organizations working to address issues like poverty, hunger, education, or environmental conservation.
- Mentor others: Share your knowledge and experience with young people or those in need of guidance.
- Start a fundraiser: Organize a fundraising event or campaign to support a cause you care about.
- Spread awareness: Use social media to raise awareness of important issues and encourage others to give back.
By taking action, we can create a ripple effect of positive change. Let's come together as a JMP community to make a difference this Giving Tuesday and beyond.
Remember, every act of kindness, no matter how small, can have a profound impact.

Take time to serve – on JMP!
We believe that service to others makes the world a better place and actively encourage JMP employees to get involved in their communities. One way of doing this (for employees in the U.S.) is through our Volunteer Time Off (VTO) program. The VTO program is designed to allow eligible employees an opportunity to engage in meaningful and purposeful volunteerism that helps those in need.
Although SAS has made education its primary philanthropic focus, employees are encouraged to give their time and talents to programs for which they have a strong affinity. Employees may use VTO to volunteer for any eligible charity, cause, or nonprofit organization of their choosing.
By allowing employees time off to volunteer, we can continue to invest in our local communities and have a meaningful impact on the world around us – one community at a time. For non-U.S.-based employees, please reach out to your local HR Business Partner to inquire about volunteer programs in your region.
