Re: Possible dates 2025Could you please let me know your availability for 2025?
Topics:
- Accessing SharePoint Data. Save data Back to a SharePoint. - Appartently this will be a feature in JMP 19. I´ve asked if there is an easy workaround at this time, that could be presented. More info soon.
- Python integration in JMP 18: Examples and When to use what?
- Database Access: How to find errors, testing, running quieries in the background
- "JSL Roast" - Process of solving a JSL issue
- Follow-up Tips and Tricks?
The numbers on the list do not mean the order we should be delivering them. Please let me know which ones we could do in January/ February.
After JMP19
- Data connectors in JMP 19
- JMP Notebook, Python integration changes, some changes to dispatch, workflow has changes
Nother idea would be to contact people who submitted abstract for DSE to present at on of our sessions, if you like the any specific presenter, we will contact them:

I should know which week is OK for session two next week. For session seven it will take more time as my brother is getting married in Greece (20.09) and we will be there for one extra week either before or after (or both, who knows) and it will take some time to know that for sure.
Rest of the times seem to be fine now, but I will be most likely on holiday 25th of June so I might be somewhere where I cannot attend (hopefully hiking).
Re: Possible dates 2025Regarding "our" topics:
- JSL Roast could be something which would happen every session. We could test the waters on first session and ask if people want it to continue. For example, I can take one of my "early" scripts if I can find one and roast that. If this is something people want to see, we could maybe have one longer "roasting" session.
- Other "repeating" (or maybe alternate with JSL Roast?) could be something like "From JMP Community" where we would go through our solving process for some community questions we have selected.
- Python Integration is good topic. I can maybe take care of it as we have the JMPyFacade which might be a poster in Discovery Summit (so maybe in March/April?)
- Database access good topic to have. Do it before summer so we can revisit it a bit with data connectors later in the year
- For our presentation: less emphasis on connectors (in my opinion) and more on which functions to use and why you should use New SQL Query(). And then go deeper into New SQL Query() with foreground/background queries, error handling, OnError(), On Cancel() and so on.
- Would be very helpful if we could have SQL database WE could access to test this out. There have been some services which have provided free SQL server for small amounts of data, we could also utilize one of those, just take it down after the session. One issues is that those are most likely accessible through some cloud service so I'm not sure if we can just use ODBC...
- In worst case I can do some parts of this and host my own PostgreSQL on my personal PC (I have one which I could get going pretty easily). Then we can continue with New SQL Query() + sqlite for example.
- I think we definitely should revisit add-ins. I do maintain 30+ add-ins at work and some in community. I could do it early in the year BUT I think it would be better to wait a bit so we know what is coming in JMP19. Potentially even demonstrate those features if JMP allows us to do that (I have provided quite a lot of feedback regarding building add-ins in JMP to hopefully make it more user-friendly).
- Hopefully our users have topics for us to cover. I can also easily come up with tens of different of topics, but there really isn't a point if no one is interested in those.
Abstracts:
- Difficult to say just based on the titles. I would at least have to see the abstract before deciding how well those fit to scripters club (Mike's and Elliot's most likely will very well, Stuart most likely, Britta and Loïc maybe).
- Also I don't think discovery summit presentations are directly good fit to scripters club. They most likely would require some modifications to get more out of them.
- Paul's topic could be later in the year OR maybe it could be had on the "US" version of scripters club?
Early next year suggestions
- January:
- Introduce JSL Roast + database access
- February
- Follow up on tips and tricks (+ introduce From community). And if I do not present poster in Discovery summit, I could do Python Integration thing.
Re: Possible dates 2025HI
- I can present a few stuff around the Database Access in January and February. I'm not sure if it's necessary to provide an SQL service since what ever you want to present can be done via ODBC to a JMP table and is easy to setup for them self so they can try out stuff after the lesson.
- I agree that add-in are becoming more and more important in our company since the amount of self edited scripts by other users branching out of one of mine where getting ridiculous instead of doing something dynamic and use one "smart" script.
I heavily make use of the Add-In Manager. - Roast can be something interactive with the community, but it's possible that a lot of scripts can't be shared because of IP and security regulations of their companies.
Planing after the next summer is a bit of a stretch, but here is my rooster:

Re: Possible dates 2025Hi everyone,
here's my availability, current state, 2nd half may be not totally right:
| Session | Date (Option 1) | Date (Option 2) | Topic | Presenter | Description |
| 1 | Jan 22nd | Jan 29th (preferred) | | | |
| 2 | Feb-19 | Feb 26th | | | |
| 3 | March 26th | | | | |
| 4 | Apr 30th | | | | |
| 5 | May 21st | May 28th | | | |
| 6 | June 25th | | | | |
| 7 | Sep 17th | Sep 24th | | | |
| 8 | Oct 22nd | Oct 29th | | | |
| 9 | Nov 19th | Nov 26th | | | |
| 10? | Dec 10th | Dec 17th | | | |
I think:
- roasting is a very good idea, the scripts should be somehow reduced to a topic, and coupled out of a big project, so that we could oversee what it does, and that it is functional for the one who opens.
- public ODBC connection would be helpful, because there are other things like connection to database, and response time, that cannot be done with a JMP table instead
- I could do a session with my discovery summit contribution (for the scripters club I will do it more JSL/technically)
- I could do some parts of other sessions, e.g. I could prepare 1/2 hour of how interpolation in a data table can be done, using formula, scripts, platforms etc.
The JMP-Python combination I'm quite interested in, but currently cannot show anything, can only ask questions:
- how do other companies handle installation of modules from web, in our case we have a company repository redirecting requests?
- how to solve simple tasks, like e.g. build a python model from JMP data table, and provide the result as formula in JMP
- how to make an analysis from python, that provides an image, available in JMP
Best regards,
Georg
Re: Possible dates 2025Hi all,
Martin and I looked at your availabiliy and comments, and came up with the table below (changes can be done).
For now, I would upload th first two session (January and Februrary) into the landing page. In 2025, JMP will have a new homepage, so we will then add the other sessions.

Re: Possible dates 2025I think the first two should be fine. Depending on how we wish to handle JSL Roast and From the community, we can explain the ideas to community in more detail and spend a more time on those. And if they are something people are interested in, I would make the both repeating things.
Re: Possible dates 2025Hi all,
Holger would be happy to do a session (need to confirm the date):
He could talk about: „Tweaking existing platforms“
- Export to PPT
- Animation + Export-Option for local datafilter
- Resolve bugs in Tables/Update
- Sumarize graphs from life distribution - with possible interactions.
All these topics are in the community, so there is no sensible data.
I will ask Holger how long he needs for it and come bac to you.
Thanks,
Maria
