Dear JMP User Community Moderator
- Quality is “satisfaction of Customers’ needs”
IF you look at the complete thread INDIVIDUAL CONTROL CHARTS, you will see that
- I informed the JMP User Community
- Because the JMP (Italy) asked me to do so
- Due to the fact that my JMP Student Version computed wrongly the Control Charts for Rare Events
The route to make QUALITY is based on two ideas
Make PREVENTIVE Actions,
- which entail acting in order to AVOID failures/defects before they could happen
And Make CORRECTIVE Actions
- which entail acting in order to AVOID failures/defects after they happened
JMP did not make any PREVENTIVE Action on INDIVIDUAL CONTROL CHARTS
JMP (and YOU) did not make any CORRECTIVE Action on INDIVIDUAL CONTROL CHARTS, after my reporting the problem in the JMP User Community
- YOUR JMP INDIVIDUAL Control Charts for Rare Events
- NEED to be CORRECTED to be a “QUALITY Method”
- Which satisfy the Costomers’ NEEDS
Only two people have been REALLY collaborative, dlehman1 Level V and Mark_Bailey Staff, while the others were …
In particular, statman, Super User with 769 +3 Kudos have been making unhelpful comments such as
- “Control charts do not assume any particular distribution to use them”. WRONG
- "All models are wrong, some are useful" G.E.P. Box. WRONG
- Is this a homework problem? NO, it is NOT
- Do you understand the meaning of IC and OOC? I DO
- For distributional assumptions related to control chart method (or lack thereof), please see: Shewhart, Walter A. (1931)“Economic Control of Quality of Manufactured Product”, D. Van Nostrand Co., NY, Wheeler, Donald, and Chambers, David (1992) “Understanding Statistical Process Control” SPC Press (ISBN 0-945320-13-2) I know WELL the books
- "All models are wrong, some are useful" G.E.P. Box, AGAIN
- Shewhart's arguments fundamentally are about the utility of the mean and standard deviation as useful estimates regardless of the underlying distribution. In fact he states in his book: "...we can make use of the average and standard deviation of a statistic, even when the underlying distribution is not known." He uses Tchebycheff's theorem to support establishing limits that reasonably identify "when trouble exists" and empirical evidence regarding economy of concluding there is trouble when there is not. See previously referenced: Shewhart, Walter A. (1931) “Economic Control of Quality of Manufactured Product”, D. Van Nostrand Co., NY, Chapter XIX, p.275-278, I know WELL the books
- "All models are wrong, some are useful" G.E.P. Box, AGAIN
SEE all the other statman, Super User unhelpful comments and appreciate that he did not make any computation about Control Charts and he did not find any case (he trusted) to show its competence with INDIVIDUAL Control Charts with EXPONENTIALLY distributed data…
Since
- Quality is “satisfaction of Customers’ needs”
I think that
- JMP Management and
- JMP Users and
- JMP User Community
- should be interested in solving the FAULT of JMP software…
- and “satisfy the Customers’ needs”
- instead of saying It doesn't seem that this thread is going to progress in a positive manner so I am turning comments off.
