Question about scheduling the running of a script without using the Task ManagerHi,
Can anyone help with this?
"I’m trying to get an overview of how often people are using their JMP software. I have written a script that writes a little tracefile to a network drive and it runs on JMP startup. Problem is that some people leave JMP open for days or weeks on end without ever restarting and as such they never show up in my usage tracking. So ideally, I would like to run this script at startup and then every x hours as long as the session is open. I know about the scheduler but that shows a visible popup that people are going to close, so that will not work. I also know about windows task scheduler but then I have to ask people to set that up and that is not going to work plus it should only run if JMP is already open since we want to track usage. Any idea how to solve this?
I would assume that more multinationals are struggling with things like this so it might be worth building something like this into JMP. If we could do something with a license server that silently can update and revoke licenses as well as collect usage metrics (what platforms, what add-ins etc), that would save me a lot of scripting."
Re: Question about scheduling the running of a script without using the Task ManagerGood point about this being used to "revoke licenses," rather than promote upgrades.
Re: Question about scheduling the running of a script without using the Task Manager@HadleyMyers, I don't think this type of tracking would lead to the customer getting more JMP. I would guess this would be used to revoke licenses that are not being used frequently. The EA program has a tracker built into it to help the development team monitor what platforms are being used the most. It might be worth talking with @Daniel_Valente.
