Hi all,
Now I am checking the functional differences of Mac Version and Window Version.
This doesn’t mean the differences of menu composition or short key, how to execute some function
I mean the functional difference literally.
I discussed this with Kyoko. She said like below.
If you know any other differences, pleat let us share.
Thanks
Ikju
---------------from Kyoko
JMP is developed by roughly two layers: portable layer and host layer. The portable layer are the JMP functionalities under the [Tables],[DOE],[Analyze], [Graph],[Tools] menus in the menu bar. Those are same on Windows and Mac.
The host layer functionality depends on the OS and they could be different between Windows and Mac.
Below is what I am aware as the differences between Windows and Mac. I could miss something, but I usually talk to our customers that totally there are not many/big differences in JMP between the two OSs.
The items or part in violet(underlined) are “Windows only” ones.
- File > Quick Open
- The versions of other software to import or to integrate (Excel, R, Python, etc.)
- OLE Automation
- Connect to SAS (on the local computer, SAS Environment)
- Excel Addin
- Saving Animation GIF
- File type to save a data table
- File type to save a report (or a graph)
- Specifying “save image DPI”
- Realtime data Capture (datafeed)
Hi Chris,
I checked two difference that you comment now
Thanks

These are also the missing from the Mac version
- JMP Home Window and Arrange Menu options at the bottom of the reports
- Thumbnail view at the bottom of the data table.
I consider these functional differences since they impact workflow, but do have menu or JMP Home equivalents.
