KM Biologics, headquartered in Kumamoto City, is a biotechnology company that deals with human vaccines, veterinary vaccines, and plasma fraction preparations. We hold statistical workshops for beginners using the JMP e-learning program "Statistical Thinking for Problem Solving in Manufacturing (STIPS)". STIPS is created with English narration, and although it has Japanese subtitles, it is difficult for employees who are not good at English. Therefore, we modified the STIPS video into a PowerPoint with Japanese dialogue and further animated it. Using this modified teaching material, about 25 employees participated in the workshop, understood the basics of statistics, and acquired the skills to apply it to their work. Specifically, they learned statistical process management and experimental design, and acquired methods for analyzing manufacturing data, optimizing processes, and improving quality. In this lecture, we will explain the process of creating teaching materials, how to conduct the workshop, and the results obtained, and touch on how improving employees' statistical literacy contributes to improving work efficiency and product quality. As a future outlook, we will also introduce plans for the introduction of advanced statistical methods and continuing education programs.
