Level: Intermediate
The hover label enhancements introduced in JMP 15 bring exciting new possibilities beyond the traditional ability to show details on demand. Previously, hover labels only displayed a limited set of information available from the current graph element and allowed limited customization, such as setting label attributes on columns.
This presentation will demonstrate the enhanced capabilities in JMP 15 that allow users to fully customize the content of hover labels as well as create new exploration patterns and integrated workflows.
We'll start by looking at a high-level command that makes it easy to add dynamic data visualization thumbnails to hover labels, which is the starting point for an exploratory workflow called "drilling into the data" or "drilling down." We'll then look at the low-level infrastructure that makes it possible - an extension of the JMP scripting language that allows power users to customize these new workflows.
We'll also show you an example of "drilling out," which involves connecting to an external system to retrieve images, and how to create an add-in that displays multiple images in a single hover label.
