Revisiting JDBC connectionsHey all!
Wanted to revisit this question about JMP and JDBC in the context of data connectors and Python. Do we still hold that the ODBC - JDBC Bridge is the best way to approach this situation? I've poked around and found a python API (https://pypi.org/project/JayDeBeApi/).
For context - this question is coming from a JMP Live opportunity where they want to connect to an Ignition Scada historian system.
Thoughts?

Re: Revisiting JDBC connectionsI have a customer who connects JMP to a data warehouse through JDBC using a python script but not sure if they are using JayDeBeApi.
Re: Revisiting JDBC connectionsIn case others are interested, the customer I mentioned (Tesla) is using a combination of PyHive and Clickhouse to implement a JDBC connection in JMP.
Re: Revisiting JDBC connectionsThe embedded Python option may enable new possibilities. It will be up to the user to determine if a Python package and JMP is a better solution than the ODBC-JDBC bridge. In many cases, especially when Data Connectors and Python are more fully developed in JMP 19, it will be. Customers can also share their solutions via the Marketplace if they want, and the solution meets Marketplace standards. While JMP will look into doing high-demand Python based connectors internally, I'd expect the majority of lesser known data sources to be accessed via user-created solutions.
