Welcome to the JMP Development Update for September 6, 2024!
Hope everyone here in the US enjoyed the Labor Day weekend! Despite the shortened work week, there’s been a lot going on between JMP 19 feature work, JMP 18.2 fixes, and Discovery preparations.
This week, JMP QA signed off on JMP 18.1 and R&D managers, Security and Tech Support also completed their final signoffs. Bob has tested upload/download of installers in the MyJMP sandbox and plans to upload the software into production early next week. Thanks to the doc, L10N and web teams for collaborating to get JMP 18.1 release notes posted as well!
We are moving quickly towards JMP 19 EA3 freeze on 9/20/24. Mia says thank you for all the feature page updates made recently and please keep them coming! The list of JMP 19 EA customers has continued to grow as more customers authorize JMP 18 and as you can see from Tonya’s beta/crash report for this week (with crashes selected), we’re getting a steady stream of feedback from those customers.

Thanks to John Sall for sharing this picture of what we’ll just call a JMP-themed license plate – this was snapped by Zoe Jewell while she was up in Boston dropping her son off at school! :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes:

System/Host Testing-Cary
- Mandy: Worked on the New Data Table Grid – running many other tests in the JSL framework trying to ensure that other things were running well with the new table look. Things are looking good in preparation for the dev talk on Sept 19th. Reported a few crashes that got fixed already. There is a new toggle switch under the red triangle – “Enable Experimental Data Table Grid”. Tags – another JMP 19 addition now supports colors and emojis – so those are fun looking – hoping to get more feedback on that part in the next EA. You can now save a tag to preferences and then go back and get it or edit it.

Also, in Tabulate – Andrew has made good progress with changes there, and worked on the formatting in the dialog – looks promising, hoping to get some feedback there too.

And in Workflow Builder, Ernest added a find/replace dialog that will need a lot of testing – we are working out if I can do some of that with scripting, but some will need to be done with the UI – again hoping for feedback in the next EA.

- Hunter: More testing and feedback to Daniel with results when expiration and termination dates have been reached. Met with Jim to resolve a Wi-Fi issue with the Sequoia beta host testing Macs in the lab. Both MDA692 (Apple Silicon) and Macbeta1x86 (Intel) are back online and updated with Sequoia Dev. Beta 8. Reviewed more of the localized documentation PDF files.
Web Testing – Cary
- Natalie: Completed Phase 1 of the automation updates for the new Fit to Window report feature. Our pass rate looks much better now. I will continue with Phase 2 of these updates on a limited basis as more development work is expected in the next few weeks.
- Josh L: Currently upgrading JMP Live Servers from version 18.1 to 18.2. I am managing approximately 13,000 events in the distributed system to enhance our customer experience. Additionally, I am working on adding more users back into our test Active Directory environment. Following this, I will focus on automating random updates to groups to improve monitoring and synchronization of AD.

Note from Shannon
In case you missed this piece of good news, JMP Live developer Michael Goff and his wife welcomed their sweet little daughter Emma June Goff on 7/25 at 3:24am. Thanks to Brian Corcoran for sharing this picture! Like other new parents at SAS and JMP, Michael took a post-baby leave to bond with his new family member. Hopefully the whole Goff family is getting enough sleep! :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Having taken a post-baby leave myself when I had my son Hunter nearly 13 years ago, I am so grateful to work for a company that offers this extremely valuable benefit to all parents. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
