What is World Day for Cultural Diversity?
In a world saturated with likes, shares, and endless scrolling, the human need for genuine connection feels more vital than ever. World Day for Cultural Diversity reminds us of the beauty and strength found in our global tapestry. On this day, we celebrate the amazing variety of cultures that make up our world. From food and music to holidays and traditions, this day is all about appreciating our differences. But it's not just about celebrating – it's also a reminder that talking to each other and learning from each other is the key to building a better future, together.
World Day for Cultural Diversity, observed annually on May 21, is a United Nations (UN) sanctioned observance day and the UN has asked people to spend the day learning about other cultures and sharing their own culture with others.
“Our DEI events committee aims to organize inclusive events celebrating diversity, promoting unity, and inspiring positive change," DEI Events Committee Chair Nick Shelton (@nick_shelton) said. "World Day for Cultural Diversity and Dialogue Development epitomizes this vision, making it a special occasion we were more than willing to celebrate at JMP.”
