The purpose of this study is to conduct a factor analysis of the occurrence rate of medical accidents, which is one of the outcome indicators, from the medical function evaluation focusing on the structure of Donabedian's three aspects of medical quality evaluation. Therefore, we created a conceptual diagram summarizing the overview and a fishbone diagram to identify the analysis items, and created a data set from the results of the Hospital Accreditation Council's evaluation and clinical indicators (QI: Quality Indicators) of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's Project to Promote Evaluation and Publication of Medical Quality. In this study, we analyzed hospitals affiliated with the Saiseikai Society, which collect and publish clinical indicators using consistent evaluation criteria and survey methods. The results of the multiple regression analysis showed that the higher the evaluation of the evaluation items related to "hospital policy decision-making on clinical ethical issues," "safety assurance system," "improvement of the medical environment," and "medical equipment management function," the lower the occurrence rate of medical accidents (accidents of 3B or higher).
I majored in nursing at university and have been working on a survey of patient satisfaction at first visits at clinics since my second year. I gave an oral presentation on that research at Discovery Summit Japan 2021, where I had the opportunity to receive various opinions (2021-JA-25MP-08). I am currently majoring in healthcare management at graduate school, learning about the quality of healthcare through classes such as "Healthcare Policy and Management" and "Healthcare Functional Evaluation Theory." Until now, my research has focused only on the outcome of patient satisfaction, but this time I have decided to use what I learned in class to add the perspective of structure to the three aspects of the Donabedian model of evaluating healthcare quality: structure, process, and outcome. This time, I would like to present the content of my work in a graduate school class called "Quality Management," where I mainly learn about multiple regression analysis.
