Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is generally used to verify complex hypothetical models with the aim of acquiring comprehensive knowledge. However, careful prior research and specialized knowledge of the subject area are essential to construct the hypothetical model that is the core of this approach, and the preparation and examination require a considerable amount of time and energy. Furthermore, even if a hypothetical model is examined through trial and error, it is not always possible to obtain a model with a good fit. Furthermore, as a result, it is not uncommon to find that one is unable to connect the findings to one's own satisfaction and persuasiveness to others.
In this presentation, we will introduce a methodology for progressively approaching a hypothetical SEM model, starting from the results of a selective two-sided causal analysis based on a focus orientation, using an online survey example. This methodology, which gradually expands the hypothetical model, utilizes the analysis tools of JMP Pro to efficiently approach the construction of a hypothetical SEM model, and also makes it easy to compare the goodness-of-fit indexes of multiple models. During the presentation, we will provide a clear and concrete explanation of this methodology, including a JMP demonstration using actual survey data.
