In agricultural (cultivation) research, experimental design is an experimental process conducted in actual cultivation sites in nature, so there are experimental design methods that are different from those in other fields. One of the representative experimental design methods that makes agricultural research different from other fields is the split-plot design or split-split plot design, which is an experimental method that divides sections in an actual cultivation field and plans experimental treatments. However, when constructing this experimental design, not all experimental factors are fixed, so analysis of the experimental factors that are randomly constructed is necessary. Unlike other statistical programs, JMP can directly construct statistical models and settings for random factors, enabling an in-depth understanding of the split-plot design. This presentation explains the basic concepts of the split-plot design in agricultural research and the method of constructing a model using JMP.
