The purpose of the special health check is to reduce the number of people aged 40 to 74 who suffer from metabolic syndrome (commonly known as "metabolic syndrome") from the perspective of preventing lifestyle-related diseases. A summary of the results of the special health check for all participants can serve as a benchmark for comparing individuals with the whole, and is therefore likely to be useful for the health management of middle-aged and elderly people.
The NDB open data provided by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare provides information on specific health checkups, including average values and distribution by class for each year's test items (waist circumference, blood sugar level, blood pressure, etc.), and makes it possible to obtain the number of people who are outside the standard and the number of people who have been tested for several test items that serve as the criteria for determining metabolic syndrome, by attributes such as gender and age. When the rate of people outside the standard for each test item is graphed by attribute, some interesting results are obtained, such as the fact that for some test items, trends by age do not appear.
In this presentation, we will show these graphs and the results of fitting a generalized linear model to the rate of non-standard results for each test item, with factors of year, prefecture, sex, and age. This modeling makes it possible to predict the rate of non-standard results based on subject attributes (sex, age, prefecture of residence), providing a deeper understanding of all specific screening recipients.
