An important load condition in the design of fighter inlet duct structures is the inlet hammer shock condition. A high-pressure hammer shock occurs due to a sudden decrease in the internal flow of the engine compressor. The traditional method for analyzing the inlet hammer shock, which is a compression shock wave, used a combination of extreme conditions (maximum speed, sea level, low temperature atmosphere), but since the 1990s, papers suggesting appropriate hammer shock design pressures using probabilistic methods have been published. With this as a reference, this study approached the inlet hammer shock pressure probabilistically using the flight operation data of the Korean Air Force, and through this, the hammer shock pressure for inlet design was analyzed, which was reduced by approximately 30% compared to the traditional method.
