Unlike automobiles, whose fuel efficiency can be measured in a stable experimental environment, it is very difficult to analyze the fuel efficiency of large transport vessels such as oil tankers (Very Large Crude Carriers, VLCCs) because the maritime operating environment is constantly changing.
In addition, in this case, ship fuel costs account for 25% of total maintenance costs, so reducing fuel costs not only has a significant impact on the economic viability of a ship, but can also contribute to reducing carbon emissions by improving fuel efficiency.
In this case
1) Using data collected from the ship, a machine learning model is applied to create a fuel efficiency model according to the ship's RPM.
2) Visualize the fuel efficiency model using JMP.
3) A fuel efficiency curve is derived under changing maritime operating conditions through simulation.
