Industrial Heat Map Example?

Hey there!

Looking for an industrial example for heat maps that we can use for the STIPS course. We've got plenty of non-industrial examples, but looking for something more applied and practical. Looking for something "open" that we can make available with the course, that would work for problem-solving or improvement scenario. Would like to build it into a practice exercise.

Would semiconducter wafer maps suffice? If so there must be scads of data sets out there or squirreled away on someone's hard drive.

Dang, sorry, I meant to say tree map. I'm using wafer maps for heat maps.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the suggestion. That’s a nice example. Was really looking for something more industrial. Defect reasons, product line, count of the number of pieces or the value. Something where there are two categorical variables with a lot of levels, where the rectangles could be sized by a continuous variable.

I’ve used an example from my old NHG days. I think it’ll work (and I’m out of time).
