Welcome to the JMP Development Update for August 23, 2024!
Thanks very much to Audrey Shull for doing the update last week while I brought my college student back to school for her sophomore year at Western Carolina! It was a bit cooler out in the mountains, but even here in the Triangle area, it’s starting to feel like fall is in the air. I’ll take it, even if it’s temporary!
With JMP Student Edition 18.0.2 and JMP 19 EA2 now released, QA teams are currently verifying 18.1 installers for JMP, JMP Pro, JMP Clinical and JMP Live. DevOps is now running CI and nightly processes for the JMP 18.1.1 track. As a reminder, 18.1.1 is primarily intended for security fixes to third party libraries, although JMP Approvers will also consider other showstopper fixes if they cannot wait for JMP 18.2. If you are requesting a code change that is not related to a security fix, please send a note to JMP Approvers detailing your request and outlining any impact to testing. As a reminder, we do not update strings or documentation for dot-dot releases.
Thanks very much to Bryan Boone and Chris Hesser for presenting on enhancements to SAS integration coming in JMP 19 at this week’s dev meeting! Bryan also shared some valuable background info about the changes JMP has made to SAS integration in recent versions. If you missed the meeting, you can find a recording here. And if you’d like to present at a future Dev meeting, you can sign up for a date here.
Thanks very much to Tonya Mauldin for sharing this week’s Beta/Crash details for the last 2 weeks with crashes selected!

Technical Support and Engagement
- Congratulations again to Duane Hayes on his upcoming retirement! Cary folks celebrated this milestone (as well as Duane’s 32nd work anniversary) at a reception in building A this week with tributes to Duane’s many years of service delivered by John Sall, Jeff Perkinson, and Wendy Murphrey. Duane tells me he is looking forward to retirement and is happy to leave JMP Technical Support in Wendy’s capable hands when that day comes! In addition to many current JMP team members, it was great to see fellow tech support retirees Glen Grimme, Sue Walsh and Kathleen Kiernan also at the celebration. Congrats, Duane, and I hope we’ll see you sporting a new retiree badge at the building A café in the future! :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes:
- Duane: Here are the TS JMP Live reports. Please note the new location, under the “User Enablement” space. Ryan and Taylor will be managing these moving forward. And, here is the link to the Jira filter showing the tickets reported by TS for the last 14 days.

JMP Live
- Aurora: Control chart warning improvements (support download of current triage data for a report). Prepared for on demand (recorded) Discovery talk. Got more familiar with JSL / Python interface by converting some existing data refresh scripts to Python or to JSL-executing-Python. Created Confluence article "JMP Live Admins - what can they do?"
Statistics
- Laura C-S: Fixing bugs in SEM and continuing to add functionality to the MIIV-2SLS estimator. The latest improvements make it really easy to copy an SEM previously fitted with maximum likelihood and to paste it into a platform launched with the MIIV-2SLS estimator (the platform detects the model came from ML and makes necessary changes automatically). We also now show the MSE for each 2SLS equations in the report. Provided feedback for the DEI metrics survey and coordinated a meeting with the current and future chair of the Mental Health section at the ASA to collaborate on a JSM presentation in 2025.
- Laura L: Finished work on adding the ability to have group by columns in the Process Capability platform. (see Grouped Process Capability Analysis in the Process Capability Platform for more details)

Life Sciences Updates
- Drew: Implemented distributing Python packages/dependencies in JMP Clinical (yes, only ones that have gone through third-party approval process
) so end-users don't have to hit the internet to download - an issue for many of our users who operate in tightly controlled IT environments. Additionally, this lets us ensure the availability/usage of specific versions that we validate our software against. Fixed an issue in the AE Narrative report which is critical for Amgen's adoption of JMP Clinical 18 as they migrate from 7.1.
- Richard: Put finishing touches on Recurrence Report. Started a report of adverse events and medications that allows for simplified SQL queries through a dialog. Submitted abstracts to Society of Clinical Trials Annual Meeting and
PhUSE US Connect.
Product Management and Product Marketing
- Bryan F: Met with Kristen Slappey to brainstorm ideas to avoid navigating away from the current page when downloading an add-in from the JMP Marketplace. Compiled a comprehensive report detailing all the discoveries and issues identified by 14 internal participants during the JMP Marketplace usability review. During the report development phase, collaborated with Sarah Sylvestre to prioritize the findings. Additionally, discussed HTML5 updates with Dieter, John Powell, and Praveena.
