As a new academic year begins, college students set out on a journey of discovery and preparation for future careers. In today's data-driven world, extracting meaningful insights is essential.
The newest release of JMP 18.0.2, JMP Student Edition, is designed to equip the next generation with data analysis skills essential for success. By providing students with a comprehensive toolkit, this latest release empowers them to tackle real-world challenges and drive innovation across various fields, helping us meet our goal of widespread JMP adoption in science and engineering.
Traditionally, learning advanced statistical concepts – and then applying them to real-world data – has been a hurdle for many college students. JMP Student Edition breaks down these barriers by providing the full suite of JMP Pro capabilities, which means students can now access the same powerful tools used by professionals in industry and research.
The release will be available by mid-August and will only require that a valid university email address be entered in the JMP Store. “Faculty and students will now have no barriers, limitations, or cost in adopting JMP Student Edition for class,” Global Academics Program Director Curt Hinrichs said. “To access the Student Edition in the JMP Store, users are required to verify their academic standing through an SSO login to their university.”
From biology majors analyzing genetic data to engineering students forecasting marketing trends, JMP Student Edition enables students to explore their fields of study in unparalleled depth. By bridging the gap between theory and practice, the software equips students with the skills to tackle complex problems, draw meaningful insights, and make data-driven decisions. “The student product is designed to initiate a life-long relationship with JMP among students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels so that they enter the workforce JMP-ready upon graduation,” Hinrichs said.
JMP Student Edition also fosters a collaborative learning environment – students can interact on projects, sharing knowledge and insights. This collaborative approach mirrors the real-world challenges faced by many professionals, preparing students for successful teamwork and communication.
“We want to remove as many barriers as possible to learn, teach, and research with the best statistical discovery available,” Product Management Director Dan Valente said. “We know that when students learn JMP in university, they become life-long JMP fans and bring their desire to use JMP when they enter the industry.”
As students graduate and enter the workforce, their proficiency in JMP will be an asset. Employers increasingly seek data-literate individuals who can harness the power of data to drive innovation and solve problems. By mastering JMP during their college years, students gain a competitive edge and set themselves up for success in their chosen careers.
More comprehensive user interface changes and authorization updates will soon be available in JMP Student Edition – stay tuned!
I just spoke with a very happy teacher from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, Barcelona: "This is a very smart move from JMP."
