The year’s flagship Discovery Summit will be held at SAS headquarters’ Executive Briefing Center in October. We love being “home” because it’s wonderful for users to see our roots. But we have less space than when we are off campus.
Therefore, we’re being very thoughtful about how we invite staff to attend. Some of you will be asked to support the entire conference, some will have specific timeslots where you’re needed, and others will receive invitations to hear a talk and/or do a brief walk-through to get a feel for Discoveries.
Note that preferences will be given to staffers who are local and won’t incur travel costs to attend.
Here’s our staffing plan by group:
- If you are presenting a paper or poster, you need to attend. You will receive an invitation to register in the next week or two
- If the event could not go on without you, you need to attend. Those who are instrumental to the event’s success will also receive an invitation to register in the next week or two
- If you are in R&D and your manager would like you to be a part of the customer conversation, you will receive an invitation within the next month
- If you are an SE or on the GTET in the Americas, you are likely to receive an invitation to attend. But, due to space constraints, it’s not guaranteed. Watch email for an invitation
- If you are an AE (Premier, Strategic, or geo) who has secured meetings with people from five of your top 20 accounts, you are eligible to attend. If this is the case, get your manager’s approval and then email Lori Harris with details
- If you’re new to JMP and/or super curious about the event, we’ll have designated times for you to sit in on a talk and/or walk through the Discovery Expo
- If you really need to attend Discovery Summit 2024 for some other reason, email Diana Levey with details
If you do receive an invitation to register, please pay close attention to the email. It may include specifics about what parts of the event you are being asked to attend – and maybe some parts you’re asked not to attend.
And whenever you’re asked to RSVP for an event dinner, please answer honestly. Not signing up and eating means you may be eating a meal designated for a customer; signing up and not attending means we’ve paid for a meal you didn’t eat.
