Variability chart in JMP 18 is not respondingThe variability chart in JMP 18 struggles with large files (Nor responding), whereas JMP 17 can analyze the same file within seconds.
I have attached a script along with the data that I have been unsuccessful in running in JMP 18.
Please provide guidance on this matter.
Re: Variability chart in JMP 18 is not respondingHi Tom,
So the issue your script has is running the variability analysis on a Grouping variable which is continuous (Date). The variability platform is not meant to be used in this way, especially since you have over 100k discrete levels (ie. unique dates), so calculating the variability of each level is taking a long time.
If your goal is to do a true variability analysis, then you need to bin your dates, such as the example I have here:

Or if you a trying to simply plot the time trend of your data with time as a continuous variable, then it would be much better to use graph builder so generate a plot like this with a smoother (either kernel or moving average), to show the time trend. This would be better since it shows the gaps between time values and shows a true time trend.

Both of these visuals only took a few seconds to generate in both JMP 17 and 18. As far as what you were trying to originally do, both JMP 17 and 18 showed similar behavior for me in the sense that it was taking over several minutes to complete. I have attached your original data table with embedded scripts to generate the two visuals above.
Re: Variability chart in JMP 18 is not respondingThank you for your response.
I've gotten a response from JMP support as well, they suggested removing "Show Box Plots( 0 )" from the script, and this, for some reason, solved the issue. Now it takes 3–4 seconds in JMP 18.
