I had a discussion with some DoE power users about ways to augment Mixture Space Filling Designs in JMP.
Their idea was to first do a smaller set of experiments and look for the quality of the model and augment the design with additional runs later on in case the model is not good enough. At the moment the Augment Design Platform does not allow Space Filling Augmentation when Mixture Factors are present.
I thought about generating a larger design and then choose a specific number of runs which are as far away as possible from each other in the design space. The unused runs can then be used for augmentation.
Has anyone heard of a way to do that or other solutions/ideas?

Just adding a thesis I found which might address some of this in chapter four for anyone how is interested or in case this might come up again later.
