this is inspired by recent questions to support sales. This is from a non-JMP user, because they haven't purchased it yet.
The customer asks why JMP can't calculate a nonparametric tolerance interval for 95%confidence and 99%proportion.
The problem is that the sample size is too small and the error message that is returned isn't sufficiently descriptive of the problem.
The documentation provides complex formula for calculating the minimum sample size that is well beyond the capabilities of 99.9% of JMP users. https://www.jmp.com/support/help/en/18.0/#page/jmp/statistical-details-for-tolerance-intervals.shtml%23ww1685553
Please consider including the minimum sample size in tolerance launch dialog when the non-parametric option is selected. Also, please consider adding a warning message in the launch dialog when the sample size is too small.
Impact: Confused potential buyers always say no. Please consider supporting JMP sales by reducing confusion.
Recently ( a couple years ago) a JMP customer presented on a method for estimating tolerance intervals for smaller sample sizes. Perhaps if this method was vetted it could be included
