Last week, the interns attended JMP Academy, an orientation geared towards new employees of JMP. In this session, employees (in this case, interns) learn about the history and culture of JMP, as well as the functions of different groups within the organization. JMP Academy is a great opportunity for new employees to become acquainted with the company, software, and culture of JMP.

JMP Academy was modified and condensed into a one-day, hybrid event that consisted of talks presented by experts in their departments. Participants joined online through Teams or in person at the Global Education Center. The day started with John Sall (@John_Sall) explaining the history of the company and software. There were then icebreakers, followed by a presentation about sales. They were even lucky enough to have time with John again for lunch. Back in the Academy, interns received with information about branding, how the product is made, how JMP cares for its employees, and how JMP cares for its customers.

Although the format of the Academy was condensed, it was a great opportunity for interns to become more acquainted with our company and gain insights that supplement SAS’s Internpalooza. Through the Academy, interns became more connected to and invested in JMP. “There’s always more to learn. A lot of the information in Academy, even though I’ve been here for over a year now, I did not know before attending. You learn more than you do working the everyday job,” Trevor Rathje (@tarathje), Data Analyst Intern said.

If you have not participated in JMP Academy it is highly recommended. Even if you have been around a while, it is a good place to get to know coworkers you may not otherwise interact with. You could even learn something new. JR Cobb (@JR_Cobb), Science and Technology Writer Intern says “JMP Academy helps you contextualize your work. You can see the framework that your work fits into; it makes it easier to get excited about work.”

Nice. Sounds like another happy class of JMP Academy graduates. Thanks, @Robin_Betters and @Peter_Hersh.
So much to learn! Loved it! Thanks to everyone who spoke!
