Wheeler's EMP implementationI have a customer question on Wheeler’s EMP in JMP and how it is implemented. Do you have any insights I could provide to the customer:
A question or two:
- Do you have details on the way you implement Dr. Wheeler’s Evaluating the measurement process into JMP? (I think you offer this)
- Do you offer Analysis of means in your DoE package?
- If yes, do you use the variance based method or ranges as per Dr Wheeler?
- Is it possible to use macros with JMP and customise, for example, how analysis of mean graphs are created?
I know we have it but I’m not sure about the details about the implementation.
Thanks,
Martin
Re: Wheeler's EMP implementationThanks Phil, Malcolm and Peter.
All very useful material. I will inform the customer.
Thanks,
Martin
Re: Wheeler's EMP implementationMartin: You might want to have the customer watch the Mastering JMP event I've presented numerous times live in the On Demand section:
Evaluating & Monitoring Your Process Using MSA and SPC | JMP
ANOM is offered as a hot spot option within the EMP platform. I'm not sure what the customer means exactly when asking '...variance based methods or ranges as per Dr. Wheeler?". But if I hazard a guess, within the EMP platform specification window, there is a radio button option for range or s charts. One usually picks the range option since the basic subgroup size of repeat measurements of the same part/output etc. is less than 5. If the customer is asking about variance components, well that is offered as a platform option too.
Re: Wheeler's EMP implementationHi Martin,
For Analysis of Means question, has your user checked out the documentation: http://www.jmp.com/support/help/Analysis_of_Means_Methods.shtml
That may answer his/her questions regarding ranges and whether standard graphical output is sufficient.

Re: Wheeler's EMP implementationHi Martin,
It is a while since I read it but I think this white paper will help:
