Putting FDE models into production settingsHey, all!
I got an interesting question from a customer looking to adopt Pro for FDE. The general question boils down to is it possible to export an FDE model to something that would run in a production settings (i.e. a Pi server, or Database, etc.). If so, what are the potential pitfalls / gotcha's in doing it?
Thoughts?
Best,
M
Re: Putting FDE models into production settingsFor me this was Takeda - they're in the middle of a Pro eval (with an eye to using FDE for inline sensors). They're also looking at JMP Live, so that will likely come up there as well.

Re: Putting FDE models into production settingsThe customer is First Solar. They do not have JMP live. Their ideal solution was to deploy the Functional Data Analysis model generated in JMP to SAS, in which they have invested a lot of time and money. A couple of snags as you can imagine main one being SAS does not have an FDA package (as far as I know). The second is that JMP does not generate a "score code" from FDE. Not giving a way to judge new data without re-running the FDE model. The only issue that was JMP live-related was that it could not be tied into the production equipment to automatically adjust settings if needed. This is something they can do in SAS or Python.
If you would like to know more I am happy to set up a call with them.
Re: Putting FDE models into production settings@Mia and the rest of the PM team is certainly trying to understand the struggles of users and not-yet-JMP-users for model deployment using the existing capabilities in JMP Pro as we make decisions about future roadmap. Would be great to know the customer and any more information around this opportunity.
Re: Putting FDE models into production settingsPete -- who was the customer here? Are they are current JMP Live customer? It helpful to understand the use-case and to document the loss as we make prioritization decisions for future versions of the software. Also as we think about the future of things like JMP Live, model deployment etc, it's great to get things posted to the wish-list (either internal) or external so the PM team can triage and prioritize.
Re: Putting FDE models into production settings@MikeD_Anderson, I don't have an answer, but I have the same question. Our customer was wanting to do the same thing. We explored JMP live, but it was not quite what they wanted in terms of a deployable model.
