Now that JMP® 18 is out and available, lots of questions have arisen, both from customers and from JMP staff. Questions like:
- “What’s the difference between the JMP Store and My JMP?”
- “What can I get from the JMP Store? When can I get it?”
- “How do I explain this to my customer?”
- “When will other currencies/countries be added to the JMP Store?”
Fear not. JMP Store Expert Falco Kronmüller and Customer Engagement Wizard Wendy Murphrey have the answers you need.
Let’s hear from Falco first, who’s been working hard with his team to expand the reach of the JMP Store. While JMP 18 is the only JMP product in the JMP Store right now, by the end of May, both JMP Pro 18 and JMP Clinical 18 will be available. Anyone (as long as they can pass the restricted party screening and have the money to spend) will be able to get JMP Pro and JMP Clinical via the JMP Store once these products have been added. Says Falco, “Additional information on the changes from JMP 17 to JMP 18 in the JMP Store can be found here.”
But that’s not all. The rollout of new countries and currencies to the JMP Store continues at a breakneck pace. Just take a look:

My JMP vs. the JMP Store
And now for Wendy’s area of expertise.
(Before we get into the details, the following information applies solely to JMP 18 products: JMP, JMP Pro, and JMP Clinical. Prior versions are only available to software administrators in My JMP.)
The first thing Wendy wants you to know is this: The term “renewal” is a misnomer. “When a customer reaches the end of their SAS contract or does a mid-year upgrade, they are entering into a NEW contract with JMP. While a customer might think of it as renewing a JMP license, this terminology can be confusing,” advises Wendy.
Since a purchase in the JMP Store is a new contract entirely, nothing is transferred from the SAS contract to the new JMP contract. The email sent to the customer with instructions to “extend” their JMP license in the JMP Store also provides them with a link to a pre-populated cart with the same number of licenses. This is simply a smart link that is built by substituting a number into the URL.
Wendy has additional advice: “There is no such thing called ‘the JMP portal.’ Instead, please be specific when directing a user to either the JMP Store or My JMP. In a nutshell, business transactions (purchases, upgrades, downgrades) are conducted in the JMP Store. Managing users and downloading software occur in My JMP.”
When making a purchase in the JMP Store, the transition from it to My JMP is transparent. Customers simply need to follow instructions on the screen and in the email. Wendy says that if you get a question, consider these situations when deciding whether to refer a customer to either the JMP Store or My JMP:
JMP Store (software admins only)
- To purchase a new subscription.
- To add or reduce the number of users licensed by a subscription.
- To update payment information.
- To view the license agreement.
My JMP
- For software admins: To manage users (i.e., authorize or deauthorize user email addresses or download the installer).
- For users: To download JMP 18 only after the user has been authorized by the software admin.
