Formula Editor Nuisance Behavior when Typing Double-QuotesThis seems like it must have been suggested already, but I couldn't find anything in the general area...
In the formula editor, if I type a double-quote, JMP inserts two double-quotes. This is a clever predictive behavior emulating many software development tools. BUT, if I type two double-quotes, or type a full "string", JMP doesn't recognize that the second double-quote marks the end of the string. So now JMP shows three double-quotes. Other coding tools that have this predictive behavior also recognize a second keystroke as the end of the pair - offten for quotes, parentheses, brackets, etc. It would be really nice if you guys could make the JMP Formula Editor that little bit smarter...

User InterfaceRe: Formula Editor Nuisance Behavior when Typing Double-Quotes - Status changed to: DeliveredRe: Formula Editor Nuisance Behavior when Typing Double-QuotesI finally found time to try this in JMP 15, and I agree it works well.
Re: Formula Editor Nuisance Behavior when Typing Double-Quotes - Status changed to: Already OfferedThis has been addressed in JMP 15. I believe the the Formula Editor now recognizes the closing quote appropriately in all cases.
Re: Formula Editor Nuisance Behavior when Typing Double-QuotesI've been playing more, and it seems like the behavior I'm suggesting already works, but only if you hit enter enter to open the edit pane before typing. Just not if you select the empty cell and start typing with double-quote.
Click a cell, and hit enter. Or double-click a cell. And it works fine.
But click an empty cell and start typing with double-quote, and the behavior is different for some reason.
