How to use an add-in calling SAS Studio with JMP18?Hello,
I need your advice and guideline in the case of connecting JMP with SAS.
I have a customer (IPSEN) who has historical add-ins that use SAS Studio procedures. The person who developed these add-ins has left the company. The person replacing him would like to use them, but doesn't know how.
Here are my questions:
- What is the procedure in JMP 17 for using this add-in? First, she has to connect JMP to SAS Studio (remote connection on a shared server). Are these the tools found in the File menu?
- What's the procedure in JMP18? The famous SAS connection menu in the file menu has disappeared. I've taken note of this: https://community.jmp.com/t5/JMP-Knowledge-Base/JMP-18-and-SAS-9-4-Connectivity/ta-p/619804
Does this mean that the add-in itself is compromised and that its internal structure is obsolete anyway? What would be the effort to update it? I have this note (SASPy - JMP - Confluence (atlassian.net)) that talks about SASPI, but it seems to be evolving in JMP19. What can I do about it?
Does anyone have any best practices to share?
Thanks a lot,
Florence
Re: How to use an add-in calling SAS Studio with JMP18?Hi Florence,
For JMP 17, the connection is the same as it always was, and you can follow a guide like: https://www.jmp.com/support/help/en/17.2/index.shtml#page/jmp/connect-to-sas-from-jmp.shtml .
JMP 18 removed SAS support, both for remote and local SAS sessions. In JMP 19, we are adding the SASPy connection as you mention. It will have some, but not complete, JSL compatibility, and allow users to open files directly or through the Query Builder. Setting up the SAS session will be a bit different, so the existing settings will from JMP 17 will not be transferable.
For internal discussion only, these changes were made to remove SAS TK and Java files from JMP, as part of JMP's separation from SAS into a new company.
