Any customers connecting to SAP databases?

Hi All,

I have a customer interested in purchasing JMP and are curious about using it to access their data on their SAP database. I know that there are SAP HANA and SAP ODBC drivers are available, but curious to see if anyone has any practical experience with customers setting up connections/database queries?

Sorry, I do not have real feedback about SAP database usage in JMP.

good question? could open a lot of use cases.

At my time in EM I struggled a lot on this and I was not able to connect JMP with SAP HANA.

Back in the years I found a discussionin the community about that :

SAP to JMP - JMP User Community

I think that JMP 17 and 18 simplified a bit this process so would be helpful to reassess it, but at that time I was not able to find a solution (probably there where other problems like access, security, etc).

With a robust API (I am assuming this customer is using HANA), they should be able to use HTTP Request (); to build an interface to their data and subsequently refresh it on JMP Live:

Hi Ben,

here is another old post where you get some driver information: https://community.jmp.com/t5/JMP-SE-Discussions/Connecting-JMP-to-SAP/m-p/12318 . I know that Peter Bewerunge from Accantec wrote a C# wrapper to be able to pull data from SAP. And some customers extract an Excel sheet from SAP.

I wonder if the new options in our connectors allow better access to SAP. As SAP is used very often on our customer side and with the new information on Minitab Real-Time SPC with SAP partnership it might be something to investigate further from our product management @Daniel_Valente or development @briancorcoran . Also with regard to JMP Live @dieter_pisot accessing data directly from SAP Hana?

@Daniel_Valente the customer is just looking for connecting JMP at a user level to bring in data individually vs. JMP Live at this point (hopefully in the future) - I'm assuming the same process of a HTTP Request can be used for standard JMP?
