Notes from Post-Event MeetingLength
- 2,5 length was good for being away from the office, but on the same time, it was quite hectic to get from one session to the other.
- Very nice to have the extra evening.
- Workshops the day before were nice.
- 2,5 days was good but also quite tight.
Plenary Speakers
- Maria L: JMP talk is an expected one. I liked the final plenary because it´s related to the social responsibility. Nice that JMP allows time for that. True extra.
- Lene: two plenaries. On the JMP One, having more than one presenter on stage was nice.
- Pilar: Agree with Maria and Lene
- Sulaman: The first plenary sets the tone for the two days. Idea for discussion sharing. The second one was good for storytelling learning.
- Zhiwu: would like to know more about new trends (DOE/ AI) in this conference.
- Victor: It's good to change from year-to-year, let's stay curious.
- Katharina: would have appreciated a more data related talk.
- Victor: It could be interesting to also have a mix between the two big topics - biases and data. It's been several years that I dream to see Cassie Kozyrkov in a JMP event (she was invited this year by SAS), she has the perfect personality to explain complex things with humour and ease.
- Malcolm: Doug Montgomery, history on DOE. What is the future of AI, Machine leaning more valuable?
- Jeff: It´s difficult when we have only 2 plenaries.
- Gwen: I enjoyed this year's talk a lot. Mix and match is good.
- Maria: be more sensitive to the fact that most attendees are not native.
- Pilar: Julian was great!
- Christel: also agree I missed the 3rd plenary, but I guess it's difficult if we have 2.5 days
- Jeff: we will look into subtitles for future events.
- Victor: You can have live subtitles from PPT when you start a presentation. Great idea!
Agenda
- Katharina: the agenda was great this year. I did not go to every session. Poster session was ok, there was enough time for it.
- Zhiwu: I liked to test the lab (test new features). Meet the experts was good. Luncheon was good to build the network. Too short of break between the talks.
- André: remind speakers to slow down. Use English subtitles on the recording.
Papers
- 45 minutes for talks was too long/ 30 min so that we don´t struggle to go from one presentation to another
- Maria L: Less talks but longer.
- Victor: More diverse lengths/formats for paper/posters/presentation? The recordings help a lot concerning this situation; I shared the papers/presentations to colleagues so that they could watch it for themselves.
- Christel: I didn´t feel that it was too rushing. I enjoyed the diversity of presentations.
Workshops
- Gwen: too much time on the basics, and then to rush to go through them.
- Pilar: workshops same as Gwen, she wants to finish them. No sockets for the workshops.
- Mauro: had a good experience.
Posters
- Mauro: did not attend the posters (blocked the meet the experts).
- Maria L: it was hard to hear (audio conditions were impractical).
- Astrid: difficult to concentrate if things are going on parallel. Difficult to concentrate. More space between them. Better communication on the posters. Better lightning talks.
- Victor: In Copenhagen, I think there were 2 dedicated sessions for posters, and half of the posters were presented on the first session, the others on the second session? Maybe splitting the posters could help separating the posters more (to avoid noise in a room) and help focus/not being in a rush to cover most of the topics in only 1 session.
- Gwen: I think this "free for all" format is difficult to navigate. Maybe the 4 talks per session could also work for posters so we can choose 4 out of 16 to go to in one hour?
Meet the Experts
- Meet the Experts: Couldn´t get all the questions answered.
- Carolin: it was nice to have the Meet the experts in the ballroom.
Hotel
- Not easy to go from one room to the other.
- Lunch: big table so you could only talk to the people you were seated talk.
- Hotel too difficult to navigate. Dinner, lunch, and dinner mostly seated so you could only talk to those you were seated too. Difficult for circulation
- Aziza: it felt like a family event. The event was very fancy. Found most of the time running to the sessions. Better distribution of the layout. Dinners a bit too fancy: sanding dinner would maybe work better.
- Community of Practices at the conference: make a space to meet to be on those clubs. Focus on WHY JMP? Being on a competitive world, how can we assure that JMP is that we need.
- Christel: it was difficult to find people because of the layout. Having the tabletops at lunch were nice.
- Pilar: was nice to have the meet the experts in the same room of the ballroom. Lunch was too crowded.
- Katie: What is a format for lunch that would allow you to feel like you are able to move around and have different conversations? What have you experienced at past Discovery Summits or other conferences that have worked well for that?
- Victor: It's true that I missed the theme-lunch from last year: DoE, Manufacturing, ... It was great exchanging with others
- Gwen: Biggish tables with a theme card was pretty good indeed.
Other
- Katharina: Use color coded badges to your interest. Only alcoholic drinks were served in the reception. Standard should be without alcohol.
- Enjoyed the small booklet with the agenda.
- Maria L.: I liked the printed agenda a lot, I used it quite often to see the agenda at a glance.
- The bag wasn´t too good this year
- Aziza: This bag was very impractical.
- Katharina: the socks are nice!
- Having the steering Committee meeting next time.
- Luncheon: this year were industry lunch/ this year get connected by capabilities.
- Do some promotion on the communities of practice.
Landing page:
- Pilar: in the landing page was easy to see what was going on. A bit confused on the workshops.
App
- Gwen: would be better if people could contribute. Survey not possible to rate. Gamification is not available anymore.
- Guillaume: you could not add appointments. Not possible to see the level of the sessions.
- Katie: I think an app tutorial session pre-con might be useful?! Or a recorded tutorial - add photo, enable notifications, point out features, etc.
- Katharina: try to find the spots on her agenda, wasn’t possible to find the name of the speakers.
- Pilar: doesn´t recognize what day you are in. should recognize that the day have passed.
- Mauro: would be nice to add extra meetings with people.
- Orbiit: that was nice but would be nice to add it to the agenda.
- Christel Kronig: I liked the app; I used the planning tool to plan which talk I wanted to attend, and I thought it was very good from that point of view.
Paper/Poster 2025
- Victor: About papers selection for prior committee reviews, maybe we could think in a near future about updated guidelines/rules to avoid being "overflowed" like this year?
- For example, not more than 1 or 2 presentations/papers per company?
- Maria A.: we will have a call before Call for Content finalized to review the scoring process.
