Hi Folks,
First, please welcome Don McCormack as our worldwide Reliability guru from GTE. Making us better in this area every day…
We had two great presenters for the SE meeting 21 March, 2022.
The agenda was:
Topic One. Intro to Functional Data Explorer with Chris Gotwalt (a relevant review of something that went very well with a large pharma company!) with our very own Andrea Coombs introducing the context for this talk and why it worked so well. Here is the abstract:
A lot of data in industry arise as curves and spectra and scientists and engineers have strong subject matter knowledge and intuition about what different shapes of curves mean. Limitations in statistical software meant that modeling curves directly was either very cumbersome, or the practitioner had to identify and extract a small number of features (like the curve’s mean or maximum) from the curves and model this. This kind of ad hoc feature extraction is both an inefficient use of data and leads to models that can be difficult to interpret. Functional Data Explorer changes this because it treats curves as first-class objects of the analysis, making full use of all the data. In this seminar we will give a brief overview of the kinds of problems that can be solved with functional data, use visualizations to explain the essential concepts, and go through several case studies analyzing functional response designed experiments. One of these will be a golden curve analysis where the goal is to find a combination of factor settings that leads to a close match of a particular curve. The second example is a very recent analysis done for a JMP pharmaceutical customer, a DoE with a spectral (near-UV circular dichroism) response where the goal is to design an low noise assay for a new protein.
Topic Two. Updates on JMP Training, where we are and where we are going with Ruth Hummel.
You’ve heard of some changes a’foot with JMP Training and our very own Ruth Hummel will share where we are today and where we are going. Please come with any and all questions for this topic that will be relevant for your customers and our successful sales efforts this year.
A big thank you to our presenters!
