Design of Experiments and Multivariate Tools for Materials Selection: Beyond Properties_Bill WorleySpeaker: Bill Worley , JMP Global Senior Technical Engineer
Lecture Topic: Experimental Design and Multivariate Tools for Material Selection: Beyond Properties
Summary:
This is a truly revolutionary technology that scientists and engineers should adopt in their daily work to improve products and processes. The speaker will describe how to use principal components and covariate experimental designs to select test options based on their physical, chemical, and/or biological properties. The talk will then use methods such as partial least squares and generalized regression to build predictive models based on salient attributes. Then, as long as the properties of the candidate materials don't change, these truly groundbreaking models become feasible. Once the model is built, for any new candidate materials, simply add their physical properties to the candidate table to see where they fall in the predicted model space using multidimensional scaling and other multivariate methods.
