The first poll of the JMP User Platform was released on April 22, 2022 and centered around the JMP User Community. The main goal of this poll is to learn more about how users interact with the Community and to identify opportunities for improvement. Below is a summary of major findings—the raw data from Qualtrics as well as the survey is attached. You may also explore the data in JMP Live.
Response Rate
A total of 3,065 invitations were sent through Qualtrics and 601 responses were received resulting in a response rate of 19.61%. Most of the responses represented people from the United States (57.78%) followed by Japan (18.09%), China (7.98%), and Korea (2.92%).

Registration Insight
The perspective of registered and unregistered users was an insightful part of this data. Of people who reported being registered users of the Community, 26% strongly agree and 42% somewhat agree with the following statement: “Being a registered member of the Community provides for a more engaging experience as opposed to being an unregistered visitor of the site”.

Of those who haven’t registered and reported visiting the Community within the past six months, 56% felt that their current needs were met as an unregistered user and 17% felt they did not see the value in becoming a registered member.

Visit Purpose and Engagement
Of respondents, 65% reported ‘finding the answer to a technical question’ as their main purpose for visiting the site. Regarding visit frequency, 34% reported visiting the Community every few months, 33% reported a few times a month, and 25% reported visiting a few times a year or less.

Below is a graphic representing the response distribution for the question: “Each time you visit the Community, how often do you interact with the following sections?”

Opportunities for Improvement
In responses to asking, “What content would you like to see more of?”, 32% said how-to videos, 29% said JMP Demos, and 18% said access to tech support.

An opportunity for improvement for the Community may lie in creating beginner-friendly spaces. From open-ended responses, several people commented on being intimidated by the level of expertise of some of the questions asked and answers provided. Having designated spaces for beginners to feel comfortable asking questions may be a valuable long-term investment as evidenced by the user quote below.
"A place for beginner questions. The questions are so advanced that it seems that my questions aren't appropriate."
Searching for content on the site appeared to be a recurring theme in people’s difficulty with finding information on the site. When asked, “How difficult is it to find information on the Community website?”, 44% responded ‘neither easy nor difficult’. Determining the appropriate key words or search phrases seems to be a barrier in users finding the content they are seeking.
"Keep polishing the search function. I often have to rephrase my search several times to find helpful content."

Thank you very much @Taylor_Ferguson ! Very valuable information.
